Gmail

Gmail Gmail Login Gmail Sign Up Gmail is an email service provided by Google. The service is free and funded entirely by advertising. Gmail was founded in 2004 and ,at first, was available by invitation only. The service was upgraded to a mainstream email service in 2007.

What Makes Gmail Different…

Gmail was developed as an alternative to the (at that time) very slow Yahoo and Hotmail services. Google pioneered the use of faster AJAX technology that resulted in faster load times and a much smoother user experience. Google have always pushed the envelope when it comes to storage space. At the time of writing, non-paying users can access 15gb of storage with the integration of Google Drive.

Interface and Ease of Use

Gmail’s interface (since copied by numerous other providers) emphasizes the Search function, making emails easy to locate. The interface also groups emails into forum-like threads (or ‘conversations’, as they are know at Google). There are also various ways of labeling, organizing and prioritizing emails if desired. Google has recently introduced a new improved e-mail service called Google Inbox. This service offers an improved user interface, as well as functions to better integrate To-Do tasks. Google has focused this product primarily on the optimization for mobile use. The feedback from the media to Google Inbox has been is extremely positive.

Gmail Features And Integrations

Gmail is feature-rich and boasts excellent and useful elements such as a filter that employs user feedback to fight spam, a chat box and integration with Google+. A click of the menu icon in the G mail inbox (top right) reveals Gmail’s integration with other Google products.

Google have made a concerted effort to offer their suite of services under one account username and password. From their Inbox, users an access Google+, Search, YouTube, Maps, Play, Drive, Calendar and many more services can be integrated as desired.

Gmail Account Access

Users of Googlemail can use either the @googlemail.com or the shorter @gmail.com format to access their account. Once you have registered with Gmail, you can easily log in via secure webmail access. The Gmail login process can also be carried out via POP3 or IMAP, for which an external email program such as Outlook or iMail needs to be be set up. However, the well designed web interface available after Gmail sign-in is in no way lacking.

Gmail Mobile App

Gmail is also available via a mobile application that syncs seamlessly with other devices on which you might use Gmail. While the app comes pre-installed on Android devices, you can download Gmail for all popular smartphone operating systems at the Play store.
